Know what to ask.

Do they use vinegar? If the answer to this is yes, then you should try that yourself before calling anyone in.

If they are going to be testing, do they use independent testing? Some professionals do their own testing. This can be considered to be anything but “professional” or impartial.

Are they doing a complete inspection or are they looking at only the mould that they can see? Mould as it appears on a wall in perhaps your kitchen has a reason for being there. It may be inside and obvious or the source of water intrusion may come from the outside.
